Home > At Bright Kids Uganda > Hope for Rebecca Babirye, the Acid Survivor

Rebecca Babirye was attacked by the father of her two kids who poured acid on her. She was discharged from Kirundu Hospital were she was initially admitted and started staying with us at BKU on Sunday, August 25th, 2019

One could see she was visibly in pain. She went back to hospital for a review on August 26th, 2019 and another on September 3rd, 2019 at mulago Hospital who referred her to Mengo Hospital for Eye examination and treatment, an attempt to restore her eye sight. She had a Nose examination at Kirundu Hospital and the Doctor noticed that it still had so many wounds and she still felt alot of pain.

On September 11th, 2019, Mengo Hospital gave her an appointment for the eye operation on September 30th, 2019. She showed up for her operation but still had alot of pain and the doctor couldn’t operate on her. They hope to try again when she is totally free from the pain.

Rebecca has been getting support from the ASA Social Fund for Hidden People, to help her cover her cost of living and travel costs to the hospital.
