Bright Kids Uganda is a children’s home registered as an NGO for orphans and vulnerable children located in Nalugala Village, Katabi sub-county, Wakiso District. It was founded by Dr. Victoria Nalongo Namusisi and the late Honorable Manuel Pinto on April 7th, 2000.
Bright Kids Uganda has a Board of Directors which is the supreme governing body of the organisation and as such it ensures due implementation of the objects and functions of the organisation by management. BKU management is composed of a team of key officers with various leadership and managerial skills. The team has competent, qualified, experienced, and skilled personnel to manage the organisation.

Our vision is to establish long term community-based homes for orphaned, abandoned, and neglected children and to provide education, vocational skills, and medical care.
Our mission is to rescue vulnerable and economically disadvantaged children from their dire circumstances in which they are currently living through the provision of shelter, home environment, love, education, and medical support.

From 13 children in 2000, today BKU is supporting more than 100 children with the majority residing with their next of kin and others at the Bright Kids Uganda Home. Those residing with their relatives are categorized under community-based care and those staying at Bright Kids Uganda are under In care. We take care of children from when they are brought to us to the time they complete their education and we resettle them with their next of kin or individual homes.
BKU assists children from various backgrounds ranging from street children, HIV/AIDS, child abuse, abandoned children, children from internally displaced camps, half-orphans, total orphans, and extreme poverty. Some were brought by the police and others by local community leaders.

Starting out as a children’s home, BKU has branched out to support other organisations and projects born out of our ever-growing work with international friends and partners. It operates in Central, Eastern and Northern Uganda. The organisations/projects we support include; Noah’s Ark advocates for children with disability, Bright Kids Enterprises, Microloan projects, Acid survivors project, Albino support groups, Colostomy surgeries, and Community outreach project.

We recognise the importance of partnerships and networking in achieving our vision and mission. We sincerely appreciate all the people who have stepped up over the years to help us to impact the lives of our children and other people in different regions of uganda were we operate. Cooperation with international partners has helped us greatly to observe all the children’s rights, widen our scope of work, and meet our cost of operation.
Crucial partnerships include; Bright Kids Uganda Foundation – USA, ASA social fund for hidden people, Heaven’s Family, Rotary clubs, Bright Kids Uganda Enterprise and individuals from different countries.

As our motto states; One child at a time, together we can make a difference. We are really making a difference in the lives of so many people.
