Siddy lost both mother and father to AIDS shortly after the end of the war.  Her dad had run to Lira Town while the mother hid in the neighboring village during the war. All of their children born before and during the war perished in the Barlonyo attack. But Siddy and her junior siblings were born after the war which is how they survived. Their father got AIDS first and died, two years later their mother passed away, also from AIDS, leaving them with the grandmother and uncle on the maternal side. Siddy is part of the BKU’s Adopt A Village Program and is currently in primary 6.
