Building on a strong and valued relationship, BKU Director – Dr Victoria Nalongo Namusisi, will visit Ireland for the first time in January 2025, specifically to meet with students and staff at ATU St Angelas in County Sligo. ATU St Angelas have supported various community projects since 2017 and are already planning further initiatives for their return to Uganda in July.

These projects include:

  • General health checks and vision assessments for the kids and wider community
  • Providing educational supplies
  • Providing medical supplies and much needed medicines
  • New solar panel and water pump system
  • Mattresses, bedsheets and mosquito nets for the kids dorms
  • Life jackets
  • Establishing “St Angela’s Orchard” by providing fruit trees
  • Improvements to latrines

In addition, ATU St Angelas support the salaries of several key staff to ensure the children’s health and welfare needs are met.

We at BKU look forward to an exciting future to further develop this collaboration with our Irish partners – and as always, “one child at a time, together we can make a difference”.
