Poultry and eggs are highly demanded in the neighborhood of Bright Kids Uganda, and have the potential of providing steady income and extra nutritious food for kids. Layer chickens are a special species of hens, which need to be raised from when they are one day old, and they start laying eggs commercially from 18-19 weeks of age. BKU needs $ 1,500 USD funds to purchase 300 egg laying poultry birds. The costs include feeds up to 5 months, feeding trolleys, drinking cans and drugs and immunization for hens.
Goals:
- Commercial egg production in five months
- Sustainable farming of poultry and eggs
- Guarantee food security for children
